Jason grew up in western Kentucky and graduated as valedictorian of his high school class. Subsequently, Jason attended Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and graduated summa cum laude. After working for several years as a CPA and financial advisor, Jason then attended the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in Louisville, Kentucky where he graduated magna cum laude and as a member of the Brandeis Society (which is an honor given only to the top 10% of each graduating class).


Jason began his career as a CPA at Williams, Williams & Lentz, LLP in Paducah, Kentucky where he worked as both an auditor and in counseling clients on various individual, corporate and non-profit tax issues. Jason then worked as a financial advisor with Ross, Sinclaire & Associates in Louisville, Kentucky where he provided services to numerous state and local governments on bringing municipal bond issuances to market and in providing related investment advice. Following law school, Jason worked with the law firm of Denton & Keuler, LLP and focused his practice in the areas of estate planning, probate, trust administration, real estate, municipal and local government affairs, land use and zoning, banking, general business and corporate transactional work, construction law and business litigation. In 2007, Jason moved to Steamboat Springs to continue this work at the law firm of Feldmann Nagel, LLC, where he served as the transactional practice group leader. As of July 2012, Jason joined the partnership of Steamboat Lawyers Group, PLLC where he continues to work in the above practice areas.


Jason is very active in his local community and spends much of his time outside of work volunteering for numerous non-profit and governmental organizations. Jason is currently serving as the President of the City of Steamboat Springs City Council, a member of the Steamboat Springs Economic Development Council, co-chairman of First Impressions of Routt County, and a board member for Seminars at Steamboat. His past positions include President, Vice-President, Treasurer of Routt County United Way, Treasurer of the Yampa Valley Autism Program and board member of the Steamboat Springs Education Fund Board and STARS.

In his free time, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife, Dervla, and their three sons, Declan, Ronan, and Lochlan and taking in all of the wonderful outdoor activities available in northwest Colorado. In particular, Jason enjoys skiing, hiking, golfing, mountain biking and fishing with friends and family.
